Thank you for supporting Dante’s Puddle Jumpers!

The entire team here at Waterdown Collision would like to express our extreme gratitude for everyone who helped to make Dante’s Puddle Jumpers Car Wash a huge success this year – again! This annual event helps raise money to support research for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and was inspired by one of our own family members Dante DeFelice, who battles this disease every day.

danteWith your help, we have managed to make this year’s event our biggest and best yet!

In just four hours on May 13th 2017, the community came together and raised $32,000 to support research to help find a cure for CF. All of the proceeds from Dante’s Puddle Jumpers Car wash are donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. With over 255 volunteers in attendance plus seemingly countless members of the community, the event helped score a win for over 4,000 young Canadians living with CF.

While CF is a serious disease, raising funds to fight it has proven to be both fun and rewarding.

The event was so much more than just a car wash. It also included music from The Lonely Hearts, face painting, Halaloo the clown who made balloon animals for the kids, police cars and fire trucks and, since the event coincided with Mother’s Day weekend, TERRA was also there providing free gifts for all the moms.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that makes it difficult to breathe and also causes digestive trouble. Severity of the disease can vary from person to person and symptoms include persistent coughing with thick mucous, shortness of breath, weight loss and bowel disturbances. Those with CF have described the feeling of their attacks as similar to drowning. They are more prone to chest infections as well as pneumonia.

Your Support Matters

Oftentimes when people come out to events such as these, they have fun and feel good about their contribution to research, but they may if they are really making a difference. We want to tell you that your support does matter.

Over the past 50 years, medical knowledge and treatment for those living with CF has increased dramatically improving the lifespan and quality of life of those affected by the disease. In fact, over that time span, the life expectancy for those with CF has risen from about 10 years of age to nearly 40 years. And we are not done yet. Together we will find a cure.

Whether you attended our annual fundraiser as a volunteer, simply to get your vehicle washed, or whether you lingered to enjoy some of the fun family activities, we want you to know how much your support means to us.

And if you did not have the opportunity to join us this year, but would still like to support Dante’s Journey to the CURE, you may make a donation directly to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

On behalf of the Waterdown Collision team and the DeFelice family, thank you!
