Current Opportunities
Waterdown Collision is seeking a licensed Automotive Mechanic to join our team in Waterdown, ON.
Position Summary:
The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of vehicles at our collision repair facility. This individual will be responsible for accurate diagnosis and completion of services to meet company objectives. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the automotive repair industry.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must have good mechanical aptitude and be well-versed in general automotive repair.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must have a 310S mechanic's license
Responsibilities:
- Inspect vehicle mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, brakes, suspension
- Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance work.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.

About You:
The Auto Body Prepper role will have you prepare surfaces for our painters, including the application of masking techniques to ensure a high quality finished product.
Responsibilities:
- Masking vehicles prior to the paint process
- Assist in minor Body work and Body Filler repair
- Assist in the removal of panels, parts, etc.
- Ability to prepare various parts/panels for paint
- Ability to review and follow repair orders efficiently
- Ability and willingness to follow standardized production processes

3+ years of relevant body shop experience

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzing vehicle damage with a keen eye for detail, and preparing an itemized listing of parts, materials and labour to facilitate the appropriate repairs
- Fully utilizing our systems and software (Mitchell & Audatex) to efficiently cost out repairs, and provide a timely appraisal to necessary parties to facilitate the full restoration of a vehicle to its pre-damage condition
- Work closely and professionally with clients, insurance providers and suppliers
- Follow the necessary and appropriate steps to provide a high level of customer satisfaction, while meeting appropriate operational and financial expectations.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of the Auto Body repair industry and automotive parts, vehicle terminology and vehicle construction.
- Strong computer and analytical skills.
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience
- Knowledge of Mitchell & Audatex Estimating software
- Knowledge or Experience with Summit Management System

Job Duties
- Handle appraisals, repair orders and supplements from start to finish
- Produce complete, thorough, and accurate collision damage appraisals according to the appropriate insurance company (or other referral source) guidelines using the proper electronic estimating software, which meet or exceed company gross profit goals
- Upload initial, supplement, and final bills as necessary to the insurance company
- Ensure ongoing communication with insurance partners, production staff and customer service specialists.
- Negotiate with insurance company representatives in a polite and courteous manner at all times when discussing subjective repair times necessary to meet the company’s gross profit goals
- Maintain a specific gross profit percentage on all ROs on all jobs (as communicated by the general manager)
- Participate in daily release meetings in order to provide key information to managerial staff
- Participate in weekly company meetings and be willing to attend training programs to enhance performance both, personally and professionally
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in which to work that reflects the excellent working conditions of the company

Requirements
- At least 5 years of direct experience in a similar role or senior estimating experience.
- A complete understanding of the day to day collision repair duties including estimating, production scheduling and meeting deadlines
- Familiarity with insurance repair procedures and guidelines
- Solid understanding of Mitchell Cloud Estimating and Qapter software
- Possess a valid drivers' license.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and plan work under your own initiative in a busy environment.
- Highly organized, analytical, and motivated; ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Strongly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
