Dante’s Journey to the Cure

Can getting your car washed and having a day of family fun help save lives? We believe it can! For just $20, on Saturday, May 13 from 10 am to 2 pm, you can bring your vehicle – car, truck, jeep, van, SUV, whatever you’ve got – and experience a great cleaning inside and out, plus a barbeque lunch on site. And the best part? 100% of the funds raised will be used to help those living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

For Waterdown Collision this disease hits very close to home: for the DiFelice family, the owners and operators of Waterdown Collision, their son – Dante – who lives with this disease every day. Waterdown has run this charity car wash for the past few years to raise money towards a cure for this deceptive disease.

Like many great things, this car wash started out small but over the years, much to the delight of the DiFelice family – this annual car wash brings out huge crowds from the community. In previous years, this event has seen over 400 cars from the Hamilton area, and close to 150 volunteers made this day very special and helped to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis research.

This year, the event will be much more than just a car wash. You can bring the whole family for some fun, and a great afternoon. Waterdown Collision will have police cars and fire trucks onsite for the kids to enjoy. There will also be a live band, face painting, balloon animals and Halaloo the clown. For all those looking for a Mother’s Day Gift, or maybe just something extra for the women in your life, TERRA will be providing free gifts for all the moms on that day.

More About Cystic Fibrosis

CF is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects Canadians, and there currently isn’t a cure. While it is difficult to imagine what living with CF might feel like, the closest description might be to imagine feeling as though you’re drowning, you can’t get a full breath in. You might suffer from multiple chest infections, and these infections might develop into pneumonia from time to time.

While CF is fatal that doesn’t mean those living with this disease can’t live normal everyday life. Often, people living with Cystic Fibrosis participate in sports and other activities and you wouldn’t even know they’re dealing with this terrible disease.

Advances in medical research have given hope to many Canadian families dealing with CF. In the last 50 years or so, the life expectancy for those with CF has gone from only about 10 years old to nearly 40 years of age.

Of course, there is more work to be done and more research dollars are needed. So, we invite you to join us on May 13th at Dante’s Puddle Jumpers Car Wash for a day of family fun – together our efforts will help find a cure! All proceeds from this event will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
